I have been buying very rare books from online-ABEBOOKS for many years and to start with they were books which contained views of a particular city or town in the UK.They were published by a London company and printed in Germany,These books were intended for the new holiday makers and workers who had weekends off and annual holidays. They would purchase a book in the city or town they visited as a keepsake or even a memory of where they came from. They were in concertina form and generally containes 30-40  images of local places of interest and monuments.
In the back of the first book i ever bought online was alist off the 135 books published and listed from A-Z as cities and towns,Strating with Aberdeen and finishing with York.

I have managed to buy around the World 36 of these books and still seek the others but they are indeed very rare and very de;icate due to their age.The books were first published and bought by the public in circa 1880.

I have started to have them scanned and saved to disk professionally by a well known local CallKwik
printing franchise.

This way i can donate the books eventually to the National Archive for posterity.

My first book was Plymouth and i have just had London views completed.

The book being scanned at the present time is THE VIEWS OF WINDOR.

I sent a print of Westminster Cathedral as a wedding present to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and received back a thank-you letter which ws lovely and much appreciated.

Check in soon for the next update.

Prints are available to purchase on Facebook
